The Queen Alexandra Hospital, known simply as the QA, is a large NHS hospital in Cosham, near Portsmouth, Hampshire.

Named after Alexandra of Denmark, the QA was originally a military hospital and was built between 1904-08 and served the local communities who travelled by way of a now defunct tram service. It was only during the second world war that the first civilian patients were admitted and thus capacity began to increase and in 1948, with the creation of the National Health Service, the majority of the beds were handed over to their care.

It was not long before the hospital became a district hospital and new buildings were built to serve an ever-increasing number of patients and like most hospitals, further developments have made since.

Penton UK was asked to provide a public address and music system throughout the hospital and a number of smaller rack cabinets, complete with paging devices and ceiling speakers were installed. Being relatively local to our own offices it is never too much trouble to assist with requirements at the QA.
